2/ TYPES   AND MODALITIE S OF  ONLINE  PARTICIPATION IN THE  WSF 2024  EVENT

People having organized wf2021  reflect that one line hybrid /online  participation,  explored since wsf 2009  and up to 2016, and massively used in sf2021 and in wsf2022 ,   is here to stay  and is now  a fundamental modalty of WSF participation” .

So what about  those CSOs that will not come physically to Nepal with a significant delegation, and are interested to participate  in wsf process and event?

MODALITY OF PARTICIPATION 

​

They may OR NOT,  be sending one  two or more  physical  delegates  participating  face to face  in activities in Nepal during the event

 That is perimeter of activities 1  in the top of this page 

​

and they may  OR NOT develop a praactive participation team, that  may have  LOCALLY in their  respective countries several  people  who consider themselves as  participants  in wsf process and are  interested to :

A/ follow  activities in Nepal  watching streaming and sending some input in the chat),  or

​

B/ participate on line in actvities  through an online meeting software (and taking the floor verbally and make input in the chat).

That is perimeter of activities 2    which is included in perimeter 1  in top of this page , 

 

 C/ organize online meetings outside event  hours of Nepal  ( that is when Nepal sleeps and those activities are not overlapping with Activities in Nepal.

This is a perimeter 3 “ of activities  distinct from perimeter 1

MODALITIES OF ACCESS TO ONLINE PARTICIPATION 

 

Activities in perimeter 2 and 3 can be  accessed  online in two ways :

 

A/ individually on line, at home  or

​

B/through a  collective  formula   that can be called “ wsf café”,  where people meet locally physically can choose participating online  in one or various activities of those perimeters  and can exchange verbally face to face  with other people present locally  , thus creating a  c collective context  replicating the spiriit of the event

3/INCLUDING  ONLINE  PARTICIPATION IN THE MACRO PROGRAM OF THE  WSF 2024  EVENT

The event   schedule / macroprogram    https://wsf2024nepal.org/schedule  can be mentioning  the possibilities of online participation, and be  inclusive to one line participants .

This can be done adding a column titled online  participation in the schedule table  with following indications

1/ mention  AT THE TOP  of the schedule / macroprogram page that many activities can take place before the  wsf2024 event dans and  be described in the wsf process  website and use online modality   https://join.wsforum.net/wsf-activities

This is perimiter 4  of activities distinct from perimeter 1 and 3  

 It is the perimeter of  wsf  process  between  events 

 

Organizing those activities stimulates organizations  to make their activities  in Nepal hybrid  and  concretizes participaiton  in  wsf as a process on occasion of the event  - see  piwap  page

2/ mention  on 15th  february  that a virtual march may be organized   ( experience of wsf2021) on the day 14th  and 15th march and opening session will be livestreamed

​

3/  mention  in the days 16-18  february  that,  according to decisions of their  respective  organizers,  part of assemblies and part of activities  (perimeter 2)  will be proposing online participation through  streaming live + chat and  online meeting participation  verbal intervention plus chat  -

A special hybrid event program  ( perimeter 2) might be made available-  And wsf cafés sessions can be announced as activities also making visible the decentralized collectif efforts of participation on line  inspired by the event

​

Important to note that there is a coupling and synergy between interpretation and hybridization : providing interpretation in an activity  will mostly  imply creating an online meeting  where interpreters who can be in Nepal or online,  may be accessible to participants in the activity , whether these are in the room in Nepal or scattered in the rest of the world  online.

4/ mention that in the days 16-18 online activities  or local and hybrid activities NOT  OVERLAPPING timewise with activities in nepal are  welcome  They constitute  perimeter 3.

5/ mention that  final day assemblies on 19th  February ( (if any), can be accessible on line  in perimeter 2 depending decisions of their  respective orgnaziers like for 3/

6/ mention that  square for statements / agora of initiative ( if any)  will be accessible online  during the whole event and particularly on 19th afternoon,  in parallel with physical square in  Nepal -

It is to be noted that most of this online participation  rely on the decision and preparation of   self organized activity organizers and not on NOC .  NOC is involved in  point 2  6 and 7  and  might be decisive in securing a good internet provision  for activity organizers , differenting access for  kathmandu  participants and  access for  hybrizzation and streaming whch require more bandwith
